The Fans of HockeyDomestic HockeyRailways, Haryana & Air India reach Pune Hockey Nationals 2013 Quarter-finals

New Delhi, 2 June 2013: Indian Railways, Air India and Haryana entered the quarter-finals of the Pune Hockey Nationals 2013. They defeated Namdhari XI, MPHA and Maharashtra respectively on 6th day of the 3rd Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2013 played at Shiv Chattrapati Sports Complex in Pune to book their seats in knock out stage.

Air India defeated Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy 10-1 to qualify for the quarter-finals, to be played on 8th June.

Air India scored through Pradhan Somanna (11 min), Vikram Pillay (15, 66 min), Joga Singh (23, 54 min), Affan Yousuf (35, 37 min), Sameer Dad (60 min, Swamy Vinaya (62 min) and Arjun Halappa (68 min) while Vikas Choudhary (19 min) scored the only through Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy.

Railways also qualified for the quarter-finals, as they edged past Namdhari XI 5-2 in their Pool F league match. Railways scored through Amit Gowda (10 min), Own Goal (34 min), Sanjay Bir (60, 67 min) and B Horo (69 min) while Yuvraj Valmiki (11 min) and Didar Singh (61 min) scored for Namdhari XI.

In Pool D, Haryana qualified for the quarter-finals as they defeated The Hockey Maharashtra 6-1. For Haryana, Ranjit Singh (4 min), Jitender Saroha (27 min), Mandeep Antil (28, 41 min), Yudhvir (51 min) and Dharmender (53 min) scored while Vikram scored the only goal for The Hockey Maharashtra.

In pool F Hockey Bhopal beat Jammu & Kashmir 6-2. The goal scorers for Hockey Bhopal were Osaf UR Rehman (2, 12, 14 min), Azam Baig (25 min), Mayank James (34 min) and Irfan Ali (42 min) while Sikander Pal Singh (18 min) and Rajinder Singh (40 min) were on target for Jammu & Kashmir.

In Pool G, Andhra Pradesh defeated Kerala 5-2.

In Pool B, Puducherry drew with Chhattisgarh 5-5 while Andaman & Nicobar drew with Mumbai Hockey Association Limited 3-3.

Air India 10 (Pradhan Somanna 11, Vikram Pillay 15, 66, Joga Singh 23, 54, Affan Yousuf 35, 37, Sameer Dad 60, Swamy Vinaya 62, Arjun Halappa 68) beat Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy 1 (Vikas Choudhary 19)

Pool D: Andaman & Nicobar 3 (Muthanna P.R 37, Bachither Singh 39, Chandan Aind 60) drew with Mumbai Hockey Association Limited 3 (Faheem Khan 10, Amit Goswami 19, Jayesh Jadhav 55)

Haryana 6 (Ranjit Singh 4, Jitender Saroha 27, Mandeep Antil 28, 41, Yudhvir 51, Dharmender 53) beat Hockey Maharashtra 1 (Vikram 44)

Pool F: Hockey Bhopal 6 (Osaf UR Rehman 2,12,14, Azam Baig 25, Mayank James 34, Irfan Ali 42) beat Jammu & Kashmir 2(Sikander Pal Singh 18, Rajinder Singh 40)

Railways 5 (Amit Gowda 10, Own Goal 34, Sanjay Bir 60, 67, B Horo 69) beat Namdhari XI 2 (Yuvraj Valmiki 11, Didar Singh 61)
