Jharkhand started their 64th Senior Men’s National Hockey Championship campaign on winning note with 4-2 win against Manipur at KSHA Hockey Stadium in Bangalore.
Both the teams were locked at zero all at the time of lemon break. But, 2nd half something different in store, which started with Manipur going ahead with a own goal in 37th minute. But, Jharkhand replied within 2 minute and Deepak Soreng equalized through a field goal. And the game was the battle equals once again for the period of 17 minutes, when Manipur got another Own Goal as ball kissed goalie pads to lead once again.
Yet again, Manipur lead was short lived as Jharkhand got an Own Goal this to restore the parity in the very next minute (57th min), as the ball was deflected into the own goal by one of the defenders of the Manipur team. (Did you read: Jamie Dwyer hates own goal rule…?)
Jharkhand took the control of proceeding thereafter and scored two goals in last 5 minutes to seal the victory and earn full point from the campaign opener. Rabindra Kujur and Suman Tirkey scored the winning goals for Jharkhand in 65th and 69th minutes respectively.
