The Fans of HockeyDomestic HockeyHaryana Junior Women’s Team Won Indian Hockey Nationals by Defeating MPHA on Golden Goal

1 May 2013: After Haryana Women’s team won Hockey National Championship yesterday, their Junior counterparts also won the title in their category. Junior Haryana defeated Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy 2-1 in the final of the 3rd Hockey India Junior Women National Championship at the Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi today, while hosts Jharkhand finished 3rd by defeated Punjab 6-0 in 3rd place play-off match.

Madhya Pradesh scored an opening goal through penalty corner converted by Shyama Tickadam in the 4th minute. In the 35th minute Haryana leveled the score through Navneet Kaur on penalty corner.

With the regulation period ending in a 1-1 deadlock, the extra-time was enforced and in the fifth minute Jyoti Gupta scored a field goal which helped Haryana to win this match.

Jharkhand defeated Punjab 6-0 to claim bronze medal. Jharkhand scored through own Goal (19th min), Punam Madhuri Tete (22nd min), Rajni Soreng (31st min), Etwari Mundu (40th and 49th min) and Alka Dung Dung (66th min).

In the semi finals played yesterday, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy sailed past Punjab with an 8-0 victory while Haryana defeated Jharkhand 2-1 to set-up the summit clash. Goal scorers for MPHA in semi final were Priyanka Wankhede (10th, 45th, 50th, 56th, 59th min), Diksha Tiwari (19th min), Reena Rathore (29th min) and R Ramngaihzuali (47th min). Punjab failed to avail any scoring chances. And, Reena Rani scored two goals for Haryana in the 26th and 52nd minute while Etwari Mundu scored the only goal for Jharkhand in the 53rd minute.
