Koreans Beat Black Sticks Women 4-3 in Whangarei 4 Nations Hockey

It was the fast paced contest the Black Sticks were expecting from Korea, and despite a gutsy second half effort the Koreans took the 4-3 win.

The visitors probably had the biggest share of possession in the first half. It was Yoo Jin Hong who scored from a field goal in the 14th minute. The Black Sticks had a chance to equalise through a penalty corner just before the half time whistle, but it was cleared well by the Korean defence.

A disappointing start to the second half for the Black Sticks saw Koreans highest capped player Mi Hyun Park score a soft goal in the 36th minute. Continue reading →

Jharkhand Win Both Men and Women East Zone Sub-Junior Hockey Nationals

Jharkhand Men and Women teams defeated Odisha to emerge winners of the 3rd Hockey India Sub-Junior Men & Women National Championship (East Zone) played at Nagaon, Assam.

In women’s final, Diva Dung Dung and Betan Dung Dung scored twice each while their opponent Odisha failed to score, as Jharkhand registered victory over Odisha 4-0.

Jharkhand who led 3-0 at the half time scored through Divya Dung Dung (14th and 16th minute) and Betan Dung Dung in the 28th minute, while Betan Dung Dung scored another goal for Jharkhand in the 66th minute to complete the tally. Continue reading →

Hockey India announces High Performance and Development Committee for 2013-14

New Delhi, 8 April 2013: Hockey India announced its High Performance and Development Committee for 2013-14. The 15 member committee will be headed by Dr Narinder Batra (Secretary General of Hockey India) and Roelant Oltmans (High Performance Director, Hockey India) will be the Vice-Chairman.
