Australia’s Hockeyroos turned on the style in a devastating second half performance as they bounced back from Thursday’s defeat at the hand of Korea to win 6-0 on Saturday. Today at Junior and Senior Women’s Hockey National Championships 2013: Punjab, Haryana and MPHA Completes QF Line Up in Lucknow

26 April 2013: Punjab, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy completed the quarter-final line-up with emphatic victories in their concluding league matches of the 3rd Hockey India Senior Women National Championship at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in the Guru Govind Singh Sports College in Lucknow.

Sandeep Singh and Yuvraj Walmiki Recalled for Netherlands Tour of Indian Men’s Hockey Team

New Delhi, 26 April 2013: Indian Men’s Hockey Team for Netherlands tour from 27 April – 9 May 2013 is announced. The 18 member Indian squad will be captained by Sardar Singh and VR Raghunath will be vice captain.

The Indian team will be traveling to Netherlands to play a total seven matches in preparations for the Senior Men team for FIH Men’s Hockey World League Round- 3(Semi-finals) to be played at Rotterdam, Netherlands from 13-23 June 2013.

Hockey India selector Col. Balbir Singh, Mr. BP Govinda, Mr. Michael Nobbs (Chief Coach) and Mr. Roelant Oltmans (Director-High Performance) alongwith Government Observer Harbinder Singh selected the list of 18 players during the selection trials conducted at SAI Centre, Bangalore on 16 April 2013. Today at Junior and Senior Women’s Hockey National Championships 2013: Sr Rajasthan Register their 1st Win

25 April 2013: Five goals by Sonu helped Rajasthan beat Bengal 9-2 in a Pool B match of the 3rd Hockey India Senior Women National Hockey Championship at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in the Guru Govind Singh Sports College, Lucknow. After losing two matches in the championship this is the first victory for Rajasthan.

Goal scorers for Rajasthan were Sonu (17, 21, 50, 58, 64 min), Jaya Chouhan (19, 52 min) and Prabhjot Kaur (61, 69 min). For Bengal scorers were Archana Kumari Tewari (5 min) and Rubi Khatun (39 min). Continue reading →

Korea Came From Behind to Beat Hockeyroos and Level the Series

A late penalty stroke consigned Australia’s Hockeyroos to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Korea in Perth on Thursday, levelling the series at one game each with two matches still to play. Madonna Blyth gave the girls in green and gold the perfect start as she fired home the rebound on a penalty corner in the second minute but Korean captain Park My Hyun levelled midway through the first half.
