New Delhi, 26 April 2013: Indian Men’s Hockey Team for Netherlands tour from 27 April – 9 May 2013 is announced. The 18 member Indian squad will be captained by Sardar Singh and VR Raghunath will be vice captain.
The Indian team will be traveling to Netherlands to play a total seven matches in preparations for the Senior Men team for FIH Men’s Hockey World League Round- 3(Semi-finals) to be played at Rotterdam, Netherlands from 13-23 June 2013.
Hockey India selector Col. Balbir Singh, Mr. BP Govinda, Mr. Michael Nobbs (Chief Coach) and Mr. Roelant Oltmans (Director-High Performance) alongwith Government Observer Harbinder Singh selected the list of 18 players during the selection trials conducted at SAI Centre, Bangalore on 16 April 2013.
Indian team will be playing two matches against the National Dutch team and five against Dutch Club teams.
Indian ace drag flicker Sandeep Singh has been recalled for the tour after London Olympics, while young forward Yuvraj Walmiki who missed the Olympics 2012 due to injury is back in the team after almost an year.
Indian team has already qualified for the FIH World League Round-3(Semi-finals) in February this year by winning World League Round 2 held in New Delhi. FIH World League is also qualifier for the World Cup 2014 to be played in Hague, Netherlands.
