India Vs Pakistan Hockey Test Series to Revive After 7 Years

After Pakistan Cricket team’s India tour in December 2012, their hockey team will be coming down to India next month for playing a five match test series after a gap of nearly seven years, later on India will go to Pakistan to play five matches.

The tour is expected to improve sporting ties between the South Asian neighbours, which were suspended after the 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai by Pakistan-based militants, which left 166 people dead. Continue reading

Black Sticks Men Beat Malaysia in 1st Test Match Before Sultan Azlan Shah Cup

The Black Sticks Men have won their first of two tests against Malaysia 3-2 as they prepare for the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2013 starting this weekend in Ipoh, Malaysia.

Black Sticks LogoAlthough the two Malaysia games count as official test matches, head coach Colin Batch is using it to focus on tactics, test combinations and acclimatize to the conditions prior to the tournament.

“Having just arrived, we were affected by the heat and travel, so it was about staying positive and rising to the challenge. And I think it was an opportunity well taken by the players as we build towards Azlan Shah this weekend,” says Batch. Continue reading
