NEW DELHI, 5 February 2013: Ritu Rani will lead Indian Women’s Hockey team at World Hockey League Round to be held at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi from 18- 24 February 2013, and Chanchan Devi will be her deputy.

Hockey India announced the team after the selection trials for the team were conducted at Netaji Subash National Institute of Sports, Patiala on 19 January 2013. Th trials were witnessed by Hockey India Selectors Col. Balbir Singh and Surinder Kaur alongwith Government Observer Harbinder Singh and Chief Coach Neil Hawgood.

The camp for the preparations of the Hero Hockey World league Round 2 is already in progress from 4 January 2013 and will continue till the commencement of the tournament.

The six team tournament will be contested by the hosts India (FIH World Ranking 12), Japan (9), Russia (20), Malaysia (22), Kazakhstan (33) and Fiji (59).

The inaugural match of the league will be played between women teams of Japan and Fiji on 18 February. The Indian Women team will take on Kazakhstan in their first match on 18 February, followed by Malaysia (19 Feb), Fiji (21 Feb), Japan (22 Feb) and Russia (24 Feb).

This tournament is part of the qualification league for the FIH Hockey Women’s World Cup 2014 to be held in The Hague, Netherlands.

The Indian women’s team is as under:
Goalkeepers: Yogita Bali, Savita
Defenders: Deep Grace Ekka, Jaspreet Kaur, Joydeep Kaur, Kirandeep Kaur
Midfielders: Ritu Rani (Captain), Chanchan Devi (Vice – Captain), Namita Toppo, Vandana Katariya, Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam, Lily Chanu Mayengbam,
Forwards: Poonam Rani, Soundarya Yendala, Anupa Barla, Rani, Navjot Kaur, Lilima Minz

      We are really sorry that we cant publish photos as we dont hv photos as of now and limited by our budget, we cant travel to click their photos, hope to do it future 🙂
