Magicians Failed to Reproduce Magic and Went Down 1-3 to Warriors

Mumbai, 31st January 2013: Dabur Mumbai Magicians went down 1-3 to Jaypee Punjab Warriors at the MHA stadium today and failed to reproduce the magic that saw them score their first win (4-0) of the Hero Hockey India League against Uttar Pradesh Wizards on Wednesday.

Goals from Dharamvir Singh, Robert Hammond and Malak Singh earned very important 5 points for the visitors. While Kookaburra Liam De Yong scored Magicians only goal when he deflected Jonny Jasrotia’s flick on a PC, by tournament’s top scorer Sandeep Singh failed to convert any of the three penalty corners that he took.

Warriors thus won all the three games that played against the Magicians in the tournament and Magicians have lost all three games against Delhi Waveriders also.

Rhinos look to settle scores with Waveriders

Fridays game 1st February: Ranchi Rhinos vs Delhi Waveriders at the Astroturf Hockey Stadium at 8:00 PM.

Ranchi, 31st January 2013: Ranchi Rhinos will looking to change things against Delhi Waveriders, to whom they lost (4-5) here in Ranchi and drew (2-2) in Delhi.

The Rhinos would be banking on their twelfth man i.e. the vocal crowd of Ranchi, when they look to settle the scores with the Waveriders by handing them their first league defeat in the Hero Hockey India League when the two teams face off for the third and final time in the league stage here at the Astroturf Hockey Stadium on Friday.

In the contest of table toppers, Rhinos will look forward from their last encounter in Delhi where they came close to an upset on Wednesday but had to settle for draw. Waveriders drew with Rhinos to Maintain their Unbeaten Record

New Delhi, 30th January 2013: Delhi Waveriders drew 2-2 with second placed Ranchi Rhinos to maintain their unbeaten record in the Hero Hockey India League at MDC National Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Despite goals from Justin Reid Ross and Floris Evers, Rhinos were unable to take five full points. With this draw, Waveriders stay on top of the table with 5 points ahead of Rhinos, who are at the second position with 29 points.

“We were not as good as we have been in the league so far. We made some mistakes today, and hopefully we would learn from them,” Waveriders’ captain Sardar Singh said.

Ranchi Rhinos drew first blood in this top of the table clash, in the 14th minute. Ashley Jackson showed some excellent skills to enter the Waveriders’ circle before passing the ball to an unmarked Justin Reid Ross. Reid Ross struck an accurate hit past a charging Nicolas Jacobi to put the visitors 1-0 ahead.

Mumbai, 30th January 2013: Dabur Mumbai Magicians finally tasted the victory, after 7 defeats in a row, when they outclassed Uttar Pradesh Wizards 4-0 in their first head-on match in the Hero Hockey India League at the Mahindra stadium here on Wednesday.

Jonny Jasrotia (11th minute), Jason Wilson (45) and Sandeep Singh (52, 66) found the target for the hosts to keep themselves alive in the inaugural edition of HIL.

“This is our first win in the tournament and we are very happy today. We have been playing well in the last few matches and we hope to keep improving,” said Sandeep after the match.

The Magicians needed nothing less than a win in this encounter between two bottom placed teams and came out with clear intention to take the battle to their opponents on the home turf. Continue reading →
