Jude Felix Hockey Academy (JFHA) is all set for the 2nd Edition of the JFHA Inter School Hockey Tournament beginning today at the Hockey Stadium (aka Shanthinagar Hockey Stadium) in Langford Town, Bengaluru.

Like Jude Felix (Olympian and former Captain of Indian Hockey Team) always says, “the Academy is for people who think differently and work towards making a difference”. JFHA found similar visionaries in South United – Lokko Sports. South United FC, a recently launched football club in Bangalore by Lokko Sports, joined hands to support the tournament as the title Sponsor of the tournament, “South United-JFHA Inter School Hockey Tournament”.

Yesterday, the organizing committee briefed a sizeable amount of media gathered at the press meet for announcing the tournament and its sponsor South United at KSHA,  the tournament rules and regulations which are tweaked a bit to make it exciting for the kids and spectators were discussed. Apart from exciting hockey moments on field, players will take home winner’s trophies, man-of-match award for each match, special prizes for best Goalkeeper, best Mid-fielder and best Forward i.e sponsored by the Olympians Adrian D’souza, Arjun Halappa and Tushar Khandekar respectively.

Lokknath of South United said he is happy to be associated with the tournament and mentioned that,”This is a baby step towards the betterment of Sports. We are grateful to be involved minutely in such a wonderful step by the Olympians.”

Olympian Sabu Varkey, a member of JFHA team, said, “Its really good to give the Inter school tournament to kids the of Academy. They gain exposure and become confident by playing such tournaments where talented kids from different background come together.”

St Joseph’s Indian High School, Bishop Cottons High School, Rashtriya Military School, Sports School Kudige, RDT Inclusive High School – Anantapur and the Host team – Maria Niketan will sweat it out for the beautiful winners trophy of South United-JFHA Inter School Hockey Tournament 2012.

Jude added at the press meet that JFHA is looking forward to make the tournament an annual affair since academies from all over India such as Vivek Singh Hockey Academy (Benaras) are showing keen interest in coming over to Bengaluru to play.
