Lucknow, September 3: Hosts Uttar Pradesh stormed into the quarterfinals of the 2nd Junior National Men Hockey Championship, defeating Jharkhand 6-0 in their last league match of Pool D, at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium today.
Others, who joined Uttar Pradesh in the last eight, were last year’s runners-up Odisha, MP Hockey Academy and Himachal Pradesh.

LUCKNOW, Sept 2: Ajeet Pandit struck six goals, including a hat-trick to fashion Himachal Pradesh’s emphatic 14-1 win against Rajasthan in a Pool H league match of the 2nd Junior National Men Hockey Championship at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in the Guru Govind Singh Sports College here today. The win brightens Himachal Pradesh’s chances of making it to the quarterfinals.
Ajeet struck in the 11th, 16th, 27th, 36th, 36th, and 62nd minutes as winners led by 6-0 at the half time. Giving him good support Gyanpreet and Taran Deep scored two goals each while Balram, Prashant, Hardeep and Harmandeep scored one each. LUCKNOW, September 1: Hosts Uttar Pradesh beat Delhi 4-1 in their opening group D league match in the 2nd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship played at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium here on Saturday.

2nd Hockey India Junior (Men’s) Hockey National Championship – 2012 will start today i.e. 1st September in Lucknow, at the Major Dhyan Chand Astro Turf Stadium at the Guru Govind Singh Sports College in Lucknow.
27 teams will participate in the tournament, which are divided into 8 different pools and one team from each pool will qualify for the quarterfinals, which will be played on September 7. Semi-finals are scheduled on September 8, followed by final on September 9.

Ireland’s interim coach Brendon Carolan has announced his squad which will compete at World Hockey League 1 in Cardiff from 7th/9th September. This is the first stage in the qualification process to the next World Cup which will held in Holland in June 2014. Four teams will compete in Cardiff with the top two teams progressing to World League 2. The teams, venue and date for World League 2 will not be known till the end of November.
Speaking after his selection Carolan said “”I am looking forward to the Green Machine continuing on all its hard work done over the summer. We will continue to drive the teams standards of excellence throughout all events, with the World League Round 1, in Cardiff being the first phase.
