In the first of match Day 3 of the Women’s Hockey Competition, Korea and Japan (Pool A | 830 BST) will fight to earn their first points of the London 2012 Games. 2nd match of the day, will be played between upset creators Australia (7th in World) and USA (10th in World) at 10:45 BST. The Hockeyroos stunned world number three Germany (3-1) on the second day, while USA repeated their Pan American Games performance and defeated world champions Argentina (1-0) in their second match to keep themselves in the race for semi-finals. Both the teams Australia and USA are playing good hockey, and the match could turn out to be another upset.
3rd match of the day, will be a rematch of the Beijing Olympics Finals between Silver Medalists China and Gold Medalists Netherlands (Pool A | 13:45 BST). Defending Champions and World Number One Side, Netherlands had won both ties against China (i.e. Pool Match and Final) in Beijing.
Lowest ranked side in the tournament South Africa (#12) will face world number 3 Germany in a Pool B match at 16:00 BST. Germany and South Africa have faced each other twice in the Olympics, wining once each in 2000 and 2004 respectively. In London Germany have won against USA (2-1) and lost against Australia 3-1 from their two matches, while South Africa lost both of them against Argentina and New Zealand.
Hosts and Champions Trophy 2012 runners-up Great Britain will play minnows Belgium in the first of evening session at 19:00 BST. Belgium are 16th in FIH World Ranking, 12 place below the hosts GB. Great Britain have started off the tournament winning against Japan (4-0) and then defeated Korea (5-3), and would like to continue their winning streak.
