Olympian Gold Medalists will meet Team India at the Eve of Olympics

Hockey India has announced gathering of all Olympic Gold Medalists to honor them on the eve London Olympics. 34 Olympic Gold Medalists, including three consecutive Gold Medal Winners Balbir Singh Sr and Leslie Claudius, will wish Team India luck for upcoming quadrennial games on June 24, just before Indian team’s departure for tour of France and Spain. In the tour, which is last outing of Team India before London Games, team will play a two match Test Series against France and a 3 Nation Invitational Hockey Tournament at Santander, Spain from 28- 30 June 2012 and 14-18 July 2012 respectively, before heading to London for Olympics 2012.

According to Hockey India, for the first time this many Olympian Gold Medalist will gather at one place. 34 Olympians will be honored by Hockey India at a function on June 24.

87 year Balbir Singh Sr. is the oldest of the Indian Olympic gold medalists. Whiel Keshav Dutt, G Nandy Singh, Jaswant Singh, Raghbir Lal and Col. Haripal Kaushik have been part of two gold medal winning teams.

The list of 34 invitees: Balbir Singh Sr., Keshav Dutt, Leslie Claudius, G Nandy Singh, Jaswant Singh, Raghbir Lal, RS Bhola, Hardayal Singh, Haripal Kaushik, A.S Bakshi, Gurdev Singh, Charanjit Singh, Gurbux Singh, Harbinder Singh, Dharam Singh, Balbir Singh, Ali Sayeed, Darshan Singh, V Baskaran, Bir Bahadur Chettri, Allan Schoefield, Sylvanus Dung Dung, Rajinder Singh, Davinder Singh, Gurmail Singh, Ravinder Pal Singh, MM Somaya, Maharaj Krishan Kaushik, Charanjit Kumar, Mervyn Fernandis, Amarjit Singh Rana, Mohammed Shahid, Zafar Iqbal and Surinder Singh Sodhi.
