Here, we see development hockey team of India, which will be route of the players to find a place in Indian Hockey Team for debut or return after injury. In such fashion, talented midfielder Gurbaj Singh will make his return to hockey after a knee injury, due to which he missed the Olympic Qualifiers. He has been named leader of Indian developmental team that will take part in the next month’s 3-Nation Cup at Lahore (Pakistan) which will be held from 9-13 April, 2012.
Apart from hosts Pakistan, India and Malaysia complete the line up. Though, the tour of India hockey team is subject to clearance by Government of India.
According to a Hockey India media release, The team was selected by HI selectors B.P Govinda and Syed Ali, along with Government Observer Harbinder Singh, after conducting trials at SAI Centre, Bangalore on 16 and 17 March 2012.
The team includes four players who represented India in the recently concluded Olympic Qualifiers in New Delhi, where India beat France in the final thus booking their London Olympic Games ticket.
