Indian eves earned three penalty corners the third of which resulted in a penalty stroke chance. And Jaspreet Kaur didn’t commit any mistakes to equalise the scores in the 25th minute which remained the same ( 1-1) till half time.
Indians kept Ireland’s defence and keeper busy in the early stages of the second half to break the deadock in the 58th minute through Anuradha Thockhom in a one on one situation against Irish goalie Emma Gray to take a lead of 2-1. Indians took the advantage of the Irish coach Coach Gene Muller’s move to take Ireland’s keeper Emma Gray off field and make pressure with 11 outfield players. And within two minutes of taking Emma Gray off, Vandana Kartaria scored a fantastic reverse stick goal to push 3-1 up. India’s 4th goal came at the stroke final through a short corner which was put into the net by Preety Kiro.
India had lost their first match to World Chamion hosts Argentina (3-1), won against Ireland 2-1 and yet again lost to South Africa (2-1) to miss the finals. This tour to Argentina will definitely help Indian team in preparing themselves for Olympic Qualifiers to be played in February, where South Africans will be main threat for India.
