The excitement is brimming as Canada Cup 2011 is days away.  Teams from around the globe like Mexico are confirmed and ready to hit the ground running at the action packed event, which takes place July 15-17, 2011. In addition, local talent, like the West Coast Kings will be participating and will include many national players in their line-up.

Designed to promote and celebrate the spirit of the game of Field Hockey, the event is family oriented and creates a platform for today’s field hockey athletes. 2011’s event features top field hockey play, spectator seating, and a safe – fun environment. Along with the amazing atmosphere, spectators have the chance to win a coveted prize of airfare to India.

Spectators and athletes can enjoy delicious food (Guru Ka Langar) and treats all three days care of Dashmesh Darbar Sikh Temple. To cap off all the festivities, renowned Punjabi singer, Satwinder Bitti will perform live on the final day. In addition, a special performance by the Surrey India Arts Club will be presented.

Along with creating a highly acclaimed sporting event, Canada Cup is committed to supporting youth leagues, high school player development, and training with scholarship initiatives. This year will be the first of many years, where a youth athlete will be awarded a scholarship. “An event of this standard could not be organized without the countless hours devoted by volunteers and organizers. On behalf of everyone, we thank the 80 individuals who have helped to create and shape the event and look forward to sharing the event’s success with them,” noted Canada Cup Organizers.

Spectators can be assured that entry is free and no tickets need to be purchased, along with free parking at 126th Street and 66 Avenue school parking lot. Finally, for individuals who are unable to attend the event, they can watch the tournament live via www.punjabisports.com.
