Haryana beat Bombay 3-1 convincingly in the final of the 56th IHF National Women’s Hockey Championship at the KSHA Stadium on Thursday. Both team played equally good game and fought hard for the title. After many attacks in initial minutes of the game, Narinder found the target in the eighth minute and suddenly Bombay team sprung back to put more efforts which bore fruits for them in 14th minute when Nishi scored the equalizer.
Haryana girls started second with confidence and Navneet scored a brilliant goal in Eighth minute of second half through a coordinated move consisting only short passes. Bombay could not utilize their chance to equalize when they two successive penalty corners. To strengthen the lead Harpreet scored third goal for Haryana in 59th minute and Haryana team captain Ramneek missed a goal in last moments of the game when found the post bar.
Final: Haryana 3 (Narinder 8th; Navneet 39th; Harpreet 59th) bt Bombay: 1 (Nishi Chowdury 14th).
Third place play-off: Bhopal: 1 (Hemlata Yadav 1st) bt Karnataka: 0
