In their last league encounter in the 11-team event, star studded team, which coached bye Gavin Ferreira secured their ninth win to tally 27 points and sneaked past second-placed BPCL (the only unbeaten side in the league this season) who logged 26 points from 8 wins and 2 draws. Third placed IOCL lost a match to champions Air India and drew 1 is series to tally 25 points. Army Red could manage 4th place. Air India got Rs 2 lakh for their effort, BPCL Rs 1.5 lakh, IOCL Rs 1 lakh and Army Red Rs 0.5 lakh. Continue reading →

World Series Hockey
FIH has communicated its stance on WSH (World Series Hockey of Nimbus of IHF) and they have mentioned they have been planning to establish a professional league under the banner of FIH and HI. This is a similar situation to ICL and IPL, which resulted in beneficial for players and the game. If the current sequence of events goes that way then it will be really advantageous for hockey in general and Indian Hockey in particular, but the condition is that HI should exploit the opportunity and should run the show for betterment of the hockey in India and subcontinent, rather being busy in filling up their pockets.

London 2012 ticket sale dates announced: Press Release
The London 2012 Organising Committee today confirmed that tickets for the London 2012 Olympic Games will go on sale on Tuesday 15 March 2011, and Paralympic Games tickets will go on sale on Friday 9 September 2011.
Olympic Games tickets will be on sale for six weeks, until 26 April 2011, enabling people to consider their options before making final choices and submitting their application. Tickets for oversubscribed sessions will be allocated via a ballot process. Continue reading →
